Following are the steps of hernia diagnosis
1. Physical examination to check the area of bulge.
Main aim of physical examination to check the the area of bulge to find the size of internal hole and give first aid to relief patient fastly.
2. Abdominal Ultrasound
It is imaging test. It helps to check inside the abdomen hole. This test is done with ultrasound machine. Machine sends the high frequency sound waves to catch the images. A water gel will apply on the skin over the abdomen. This will help to send sound waves.
3. CT Scan
Full form of CT Scan is computerized tomography scan which is the combination of x rays on the abdomen for diagnosis the hernia from different angles. It gives more detail than simple x-rays. For this, you need to take off all your clothes and remove all metals like jewelry and belt. Eat before few hours of scan. CT scan will store in electronic data file and can be reviewed on a computer screen and radiologist will explain about the hernia status to doctor.
4. MRI Scan
Full form of MRI scan is magnetic resonance imaging. For diagnosis hernia, it can be used to scan with strong magnetic fields and radio waves to image inside of abdomen. There is a scanner machine in which patient will go by lie on the bed and then abdomen's internal swelling part will scanned by radiographer.
5. Endoscopy
Endoscopy is a tube with attached camera and passed into the mouth to check the the digestion track and useful to monitor the status of hiatus hernia. It can can also pass to colon and small intestine. It not just diagnosis hernia but also diagnosis of ulcer, digestion track bleeding due to chron and other colon diseases/
